About Sphalerite
La esfalerita es el principal mineral mena del zinc, apreciada por los coleccionistas y gemólogos por su extraordinario fuego dispersivo (mayor que el del diamante) y su brillo adamantino. Puede ser incolora, amarilla, naranja, roja, verde o negra. Sin embargo, su baja dureza (3.5–4 en Mohs) la hace inadecuada para joyería de uso cotidiano. Las gemas facetadas son curiosidades de coleccionista. Los mejores cristales provienen de España, México y Bulgaria.
