About Amethyst
La amatista es la variedad violeta del cuarzo y una de las gemas más apreciadas en joyería a lo largo de la historia. Su característico color morado, que va desde el lila pálido al púrpura intenso, es resultado de la presencia de hierro y de irradiación natural en su estructura cristalina. En la antigüedad era considerada tan valiosa como el rubí y el zafiro, y era símbolo de realeza y espiritualidad en muchas culturas. Los mejores ejemplares, con un color púrpura profundo y uniforme, provienen de Brasil, Uruguay, Zambia y Madagascar. Es la piedra natal del mes de febrero.
