La jadeíta es un raro piroxeno de sodio y aluminio que constituye la variedad de jade más valiosa y genuina, valorada especialmente en su forma translúcida a transparente de color verde vívido llamada 'jadeíta imperial'. Formada exclusivamente en condiciones de alta presión en zonas de subducción, las principales fuentes comerciales son Myanmar (Birmania), Guatemala y Rusia. El mercado de la jadeíta en el sureste asiático —especialmente en China, Hong Kong y Taiwán— es enorme; las pulseras y colgantes de jadeíta imperial de alta calidad alcanzan precios comparables a las gemas más valiosas.
