About Calcite Satin Spar
La calcita satinada (satin spar de calcita) es una variedad fibrosa de calcita de textura sedosa que presenta un notable efecto chatoyant (ojo de gato) cuando se talla en cabujón, produciendo una línea de luz brillante sobre un fondo translúcido blanco o crema. Se forma en venas de roca con cristales de calcita alineados en paralelo. Aunque comparte nombre con la variedad fibrosa del yeso (también llamada satin spar), la versión de calcita es distinta en composición y propiedades. Es utilizada en joyería artesanal y como material decorativo. Los mejores ejemplares provienen de México, Brasil y Estados Unidos.
