About Axinite
La axinita es un grupo de borosilicatos de calcio, aluminio y manganeso o hierro que cristaliza en el sistema triclínico, formando cristales planos y acuñados de color característico entre el marrón violáceo, marrón amarillento y, más raramente, azul o verde. Su nombre hace referencia a la forma de hacha de sus cristales ('axine' en griego). Muestra un pleocroísmo notable, cambiando de color según el ángulo de visión. Los ejemplares transparentes de tamaño suficiente para facetado son escasos y valorados por los coleccionistas de gemas inusuales. Proviene principalmente de Francia, México, Rusia y Tanzania.
