About Afghanite
La afghanita es un mineral feldespatolide de composición compleja, rico en sodio, calcio, silicio y cloro, que cristaliza en el sistema hexagonal. Presenta colores que van del azul al azul grisáceo y es translúcida a opaca. Fue descubierta en Afganistán, de donde toma su nombre, específicamente en los famosos depósitos de lapislázuli de la provincia de Badajshán. Es un mineral relativamente raro que suele encontrarse asociado a lapislázuli, calcita y pirita. Los coleccionistas la valoran tanto por su rareza como por su asociación con una de las regiones mineras históricamente más importantes del mundo.
