About Nifontovite
Nifontovite é um mineral de borato de cálcio extremamente raro que forma agregados fibrosos brancos a incolores. Nomeada em homenagem ao mineralogista soviético N.I. Nifontov, foi descoberta na Rússia em 1961. Ocorre em skarn cálcico e na zona de contacto de mármores. A sua raridade extrema torna-a principalmente um espécime de colecionador e objeto de estudo mineralógico. Não é usada em joalharia convencional. Depósitos extremamente limitados na Rússia e possivelmente noutras regiões de skarn tornam qualquer amostra uma raridade científica valiosa para museus e colecionadores especializados.
