About Forsterite
A forsterite é o membro rico em magnésio da série olivina e é o componente principal da peridote. Os cristais transparentes de cor verde-amarelada são usados em joalharia como peridote. É um mineral abundante no manto terrestre e encontra-se também em meteoritos e em rochas ígneas ultrabásicas. A forsterite pura é incolor, mas os exemplares de qualidade gema normalmente contêm algum ferro que lhes confere a característica cor verde da peridote.
