About Forsterite
Forsterite is the magnesium-rich end-member of the olivine series, appearing in colorless, pale yellow, or pale green tones and forming in ultramafic igneous and metamorphic rocks worldwide. Gem-quality transparent forsterite is faceted into brilliantly clear stones with good dispersion, valued by collectors for their purity and high refractive index. Notable gem sources include Pakistan's Kaghan Valley and Tanzania, where material of exceptional clarity occurs.
