About Whitlockite
La whitlockita es un mineral de fosfato de calcio y magnesio que puede presentarse incoloro, amarillo pálido o pardusco. Es de interés mineralógico y geológico, pues se encuentra tanto en pegmatitas terrestres como en meteoritas, lo que la convierte en objeto de estudio para la astrobiología. Los cristales coleccionables son raros. Su nombre honra al mineralogista Herbert Percy Whitlock. Las localidades más conocidas incluyen Custer (Dakota del Sur, EE. UU.) y Palermo (New Hampshire, EE.
