About Vesuvianite (Idocrase)
La vesuvianita (o idocrasa) es un mineral de silicato de calcio y aluminio que puede presentarse en colores amarillo, verde, azul, marrón, rojo y morado. La variedad verde translúcida de California, llamada «californita», se ha comercializado como «jade americano». La variedad azul-violeta, conocida como «cyprine», contiene cobre. La primera se describió en lavas del Vesubio (Italia), de ahí su nombre. También se extrae en Rusia, Canadá y México.
