La tugtupita es un mineral de silicato de aluminio, sodio y berilio cuyo color rosa a rojo intenso se debe al berilio. Posee la notable propiedad de la tenebrescencia: se decolora al exponerse a la luz solar (adquiriendo un rosa pálido) y recupera su color bajo oscuridad o luz UV. Se encontró por primera vez en la península de Tugtup (Groenlandia), de donde toma su nombre. También se conoce en Rusia. Es muy apreciada por coleccionistas por su rareza y propiedades ópticas únicas.
