About Taaffeite (Magnesiotaaffeite)
La taafeíta es una de las gemas más raras del mundo, tan escasa que fue identificada como mineral nuevo a partir de una gema ya tallada. Su variedad más común es la magnesiotaafeíta, de color lila, rojo, rosa o incoloro. Fue descubierta en 1945 por el conde irlandés Eduard Charles Richard Taaffe. La mayoría de los especímenes conocidos proceden de Sri Lanka, Tanzania y China. Incluso los minerólogos especializados rara vez tienen la oportunidad de ver un ejemplar.
