About Sugilite

La sugilita es un mineral de silicato de potasio, sodio, litio y manganeso conocido por su característico color violeta a magenta intenso. Es relativamente rara y muy apreciada en joyería, especialmente en diseños modernos y de estilo «nuevo age». Fue descubierta en 1944 por el geólogo japonés Ken-ichi Sugi, aunque la fuente gema principal se halló décadas después en la mina Wessels de Sudáfrica. También se conoce con el nombre comercial «luvulita».
