About Shortite
La shortita es un carbonato de sodio y calcio muy raro que forma cristales tabulares amarillos a incoloros. Es una especie principalmente de interés científico y coleccionable, con escasa aplicación como gema ornamental. Se encuentra en depósitos evaporíticos y rocas alcalinas de algunos yacimientos en Estados Unidos (especialmente Wyoming) y en otros países. Su nombre honra al mineralogista estadounidense Maxwell Naylor Short.
