About Sard

El sardo es una variedad de calcedonia de color marrón rojizo a rojo oscuro, resultado de la presencia de óxidos de hierro en su composición. Es una de las piedras ornamentales más antiguas utilizadas por el ser humano, muy empleada en la antigüedad para tallar sellos, camafeos e intaglios. Se distingue de la cornalina por su tono más oscuro y profundo. Los depósitos históricos más importantes se localizan en la India, aunque también se extrae en Brasil y Uruguay.
