La oligoclasa es un feldespato plagioclasa sódico-cálcico que varía del blanco al gris, amarillo, verde y rosa, con la notable variedad aventurina denominada piedra del sol, en la que pequeñas inclusiones de hematita o goetita producen un centelleo dorado. Es un mineral muy común en rocas ígneas y metamórficas, pero el material gema con efectos ópticos especiales es raro y muy valorado. Noruega, Oregón (EE.
