About Monazite
La monacita es un fosfato de tierras raras —principalmente cerio, lantano, neodimio y praseodimio— que forma cristales prismáticos o tabulares de color marrón amarillento a rojo pardo con lustre resinoso a ceroso. Es la principal fuente comercial de tierras raras ligeras y torio, minerales críticos para imanes permanentes, catalizadores y tecnología de energía limpia. Sus cristales transparentes son raros y de interés mineralógico, hallándose en pegmatitas de granito, gneises y depósitos aluviales de Brasil, India, Australia y Madagascar.
