La milarita es un ciclosilicato de potasio, calcio, aluminio y berilio que forma cristales hexagonales prismáticos incoloros a verde pálido con un lustre vítreo y notable transparencia. Se halla en venas alpinas de cuarzo y pegmatitas en Suiza, donde fue descrita por primera vez en el Valle de Milar, así como en Brasil, Kazajistán y los Estados Unidos. Las gemas facetadas son raras y muy apreciadas por los coleccionistas, dada la escasez de material de calidad gema.
