About Libyan Desert Glass
El vidrio del desierto de Libia es una extraordinaria sílice natural formada hace aproximadamente 29 millones de años, probablemente por el impacto de un meteorito o por la explosión de un bólido sobre el Gran Mar de Arena entre Libia y Egipto. Este material amarillo pálido a verdoso, traslúcido y con lustre vitreo, fue apreciado ya en el Antiguo Egipto: el pectoral del faraón Tutankamón contiene una joya tallada en este vidrio cósmico.
