About Leucite
La leucita es un tectosilicato de potasio y aluminio que forma cristales trapezoedrales blancos a grises con un lustre vitreo opaco a translúcido, típicos de las lavas volcánicas pobres en sílice. Fue ampliamente utilizada por los romanos en forma de roca volcánica leucítica para construcciones, y en la actualidad constituye una fuente comercial de potasio para fertilizantes. Las mejores muestras cristalinas proceden de los Montes Albanos, en Italia, y de las lavas volcánicas del Monte Vesubio.
