About Fluorapatite
La fluorapatita es el miembro más común del grupo de los apatitos, un fosfato de calcio que es también el componente mineral principal del esmalte dental y los huesos. En formas de calidad gemológica aparece en tonos azules, verdes, amarillos, violetas e incoloros, a menudo con un brillo vítreo suave y buen color. Las fuentes de gemas incluyen Myanmar, Brasil, México y la India; aunque su dureza relativamente baja (5 en la escala Mohs) limita su uso en joyería cotidiana, hace de ella una apreciada gema facetada para coleccionistas.
