About Colemanite
La colemanita es un borato de calcio hidratado que cristaliza en el sistema monoclínico, formando cristales prismáticos o masas granulares de color incoloro a blanco, amarillento o grisáceo, con brillo vítreo. Es uno de los principales minerales industriales de boro, utilizado en la fabricación de vidrio resistente al calor (pyrex), fibras de vidrio, detergentes y esmaltes. Se forma en depósitos lacustres de evaporitas. Los mejores cristales provienen de California y Nevada (EE.UU.) y de Turquía. Aunque no es una gema convencional, los cristales bien formados y transparentes son ocasionalmente facetados para coleccionistas de minerales inusuales.
