About Clinohedrite
La clinohedrita es un sorosilicato de zinc y calcio que cristaliza en el sistema monoclínico, formando cristales prismáticos o piramidales de color blanco, incoloro o ligeramente rosado con brillo vítreo. Es un mineral raro, conocido principalmente de los depósitos de zinc de Franklin y Sterling Hill, en New Jersey (EE.UU.), famosos mundialmente por la abundancia y diversidad de sus minerales fluorescentes. La clinohedrita muestra una fluorescencia naranja brillante bajo luz ultravioleta de onda corta. Los cristales de tamaño facetable son escasos y constituyen piezas de coleccionista inusuales. Fue descrita en 1899 por la mineralogista Winifred Goldring.
