About Chondrodite
La condrodita es un nesosilicato de magnesio con flúor que cristaliza en el sistema monoclínico, formando cristales prismáticos o granulares de color amarillo, naranja, marrón rojizo o rojo, con brillo vítreo a resinoso. Se encuentra en mármoles metamórficos y en skarns (escarnos), frecuentemente asociada a espinela, clinohumita y forsterita. Es una gema de coleccionista de moderada rareza; los cristales transparentes de color naranja o rojo son facetados ocasionalmente. Los mejores ejemplares provienen de Finlandia, Nueva York (EE.UU.), Suecia y Rusia. Su nombre deriva del griego 'chondros' (grano) por su habitual forma granular.
