About Childrenite
La childrenita es un hidroxi-fosfato de hierro y aluminio que cristaliza en el sistema ortorrómbico, formando cristales prismáticos o tabulares de color marrón amarillento a naranja, con brillo vítreo a resinoso. Se encuentra en pegmatitas fosfatadas y en zonas de alteración de rocas ígneas. Los cristales de calidad gemológica son raros y los ejemplares facetados constituyen piezas de coleccionista infrecuentes. Fue descrita por primera vez en Cornwall (Gran Bretaña) y nombrada en honor al mineralogista inglés John George Children. Los mejores ejemplares provienen de Alemania, Portugal (Minas da Panasqueira) y Brasil.
