About Chiastolite
La quiastolita es una variedad de la andalusita que contiene inclusiones de carbono dispuestas en un patrón de cruz en el interior del cristal, visible claramente al cortar el mineral perpendicular a su eje. Esta cruz de color negro sobre fondo marrón o gris ha sido objeto de veneración religiosa durante siglos, siendo utilizada como amuleto en peregrinaciones de la Edad Media, especialmente en el Camino de Santiago. Los cristales mejor formados provienen de Santiago de Compostela (España), así como de China, Australia y Chile. Actualmente es apreciada tanto como joya espiritual como por su interés mineralógico.
