About Catapleiite
La catapleiita es un silicato hidratado de zirconio y sodio que cristaliza en el sistema hexagonal, formando cristales tabulares o pseudohexagonales de color amarillo pálido, amarillo verdoso o rosado, con brillo vítreo. Se encuentra en pegmatitas alcalinas y sienitas nefelínicas, frecuentemente asociada a otros silicatos de zirconio como la eudialita. Su alto contenido en zirconio le confiere propiedades ópticas interesantes, aunque los ejemplares de tamaño suficiente para ser facetados son raros. Los mejores especímenes provienen de Noruega, el monte Saint-Hilaire (Canadá) y Rusia. Fue descrita por primera vez en 1852 en Noruega.
