About Bikolite
La bikolita es una gema rara e histórica, considerada actualmente por muchos expertos como una variedad particular de serpentina o de otras rocas similares. Fue descrita originalmente a partir de material procedente de la región de Bicol, en las Filipinas, de donde toma su nombre. Los materiales así denominados muestran generalmente un color verde oscuro con una textura translúcida y semejante al jade, por lo que en el pasado fue utilizada como sucedáneo de este. Su estatus mineralógico exacto permanece incierto y ha generado debate en la comunidad gemológica. Los especímenes auténticos son rarísimos en las colecciones actuales.
