About Anthophyllite
La antofilita es un mineral del grupo de los anfíboles, rico en magnesio y hierro, que cristaliza en el sistema ortorrómbico formando cristales prismáticos o fibrosos de color gris, marrón o amarillento. Es un mineral metamórfico que se encuentra en esquistos y gneis ricos en magnesio. La variedad fibrosa fue históricamente clasificada como asbesto y utilizada como material refractario, aunque actualmente su uso industrial está restringido por razones de salud. Los cristales compactos y transparentes son rarísimos y constituyen piezas de coleccionista extremadamente inusuales. Fue descrita por primera vez en Kongsberg, Noruega.
