About Anorthite
La anortita es el extremo rico en calcio de la serie isomorfa de los feldespatos plagioclásicos, cristalizando en el sistema triclínico. Generalmente de color blanco o gris, raramente presenta la transparencia necesaria para su uso como gema. Es un mineral fundamental en las rocas ígneas básicas, como el gabro y el basalto, y también se encuentra en algunas rocas metamórficas. Su importancia mineralógica es elevada, ya que es el componente principal de la anortosia, una roca lunar abundante. Los ejemplares con fenómenos ópticos, como la labradorescencia, son ocasionalmente utilizados como gemas ornamentales.
