About Anhydrite
La anhidrita es un sulfato de calcio anhidro (sin agua) que cristaliza en el sistema ortorrómbico, generalmente en masas granulares o lamelares de color blanco, gris, azulado o violáceo. Se forma en depósitos de evaporitas, frecuentemente asociada al yeso (su equivalente hidratado) y a la halita. Aunque rara como gema facetada debido a su moderada dureza y exfoliación perfecta, los ejemplares de color azul o violeta son ocasionalmente utilizados en joyería. Se emplea principalmente como roca ornamental y en construcción. Su nombre deriva del griego 'anhydros', que significa 'sin agua', distinguiéndola del yeso.
