About Witherite
A witherite é um mineral de carbonato de bário que forma cristais dipiramidais brancos a incolores ou cinzento pálido com um lustre resinoso a vítreo. Embora rara como gema, cristais transparentes incolores são por vezes lapidados para colecionadores. É a principal fonte de bário para a indústria química e foi descoberta no século XVIII em Inglaterra, pelo mineralogista William Withering, de quem recebeu o nome.
