About Prehnite
Prehnite é um mineral de silicato de cálcio-alumínio que forma massas botrioidais ou cristais tabulares de cor verde-menta a amarelo-esverdeado característico. Nomeado em homenagem ao coronel holandês Hendrik von Prehn, que a trouxe para a Europa, foi o primeiro mineral nomeado em homenagem a uma pessoa. A prehnite verde suave translúcida, por vezes com inclusões de epidoto ou actinolite, é muito apreciada em joalharia contemporânea. Algumas variedades exibem chatoyance. Os melhores exemplares gemológicos provêm da Namíbia, Austrália, China e Mali. A sua cor verde suave tornou-a popular em joalharia artística moderna.
