About Prase
Prase é uma variedade de quartzo macrocristalino de cor verde-escura a verde-oliva, colorida por inclusões de actinolite fibrosa ou clorite. O nome deriva do grego para alho-porro, descrevendo a sua coloração verde distinta. Distingue-se da prasiolite (ametista verde) e da aventurina pela sua opacidade e inclusões diferentes. Ocorre principalmente na Finlândia, Áustria, Índia e Escócia. Embora menos valorizada do que a esmeralda ou jadeíte, a prase tem a sua própria beleza suave de verde e é usada em cabuchões e objectos ornamentais de pedra em grão.
