About Pleonaste
Pleonaste é uma variedade de espinela rica em ferro de cor negra a verde muito escura, quase negra. O nome deriva do grego para abundante, referindo o elevado teor de ferro. Ocorre em rochas metamórficas e em algumas rochas ígneas. Historicamente, a pleonaste negra foi usada em joalharia de luto vitoriana como substituto do azeviche, especialmente em Inglaterra.
