About Petalite
Petalite é um mineral de silicato de lítio-alumínio que forma massas clivadas translúcidas a transparentes de cor branca a incolor, às vezes com tonalidades rosadas ou cinzentas. É uma importante fonte industrial de lítio. Embora raramente reconhecida em joalharia convencional, a petalite transparente de qualidade gemológica é talhada para colecionadores. Os principais depósitos existem no Brasil, Namíbia, Suécia e na ilha de Utö, na Suécia, onde foi descoberta originalmente. O nome deriva do grego para folha, referindo a sua clivagem perfeita em forma de folha. Amostras de boa qualidade da Namíbia são especialmente apreciadas.
