About Pectolite
Pectolite é um mineral de silicato de sódio-cálcio melhor conhecido pela sua variedade dominicana chamada larimar, que exibe uma coloração azul a azul-turquesa única. A larimar, encontrada exclusivamente na República Dominicana, apresenta padrões de azul que lembram as águas do Caribe. O nome larimar foi dado pelo geólogo dominicano Miguel Méndez, combinando o nome da filha Larissa com o espanhol para mar. É a pedra nacional não oficial da República Dominicana. A pectolite comum é branca a cinzenta. A larimar é muito procurada em joalharia artesanal e representa uma das gemas azuis mais acessíveis.
