Padparadscha é a mais rara e valiosa de todas as variedades de corindo, exibindo uma cor excepcional entre rosa e laranja, como a de uma flor de lótus ao pôr do sol. O nome deriva do sânscrito e cingalês para flor de lótus. Os melhores exemplares provêm do Sri Lanka, seguidos de Madagascar e da Tanzânia. A definição exacta da cor permanece debatida entre gemologistas, mas o tom deve ser simultaneamente rosa e laranja, sem predominância de nenhuma das duas.
