About Neptunite
Neptunite é um raro mineral de silicato de sódio-lítio-ferro-manganês que forma cristais prismáticos negros brilhantes com brilho submetálico. Nomeada em homenagem a Neptuno, deus romano do mar, ocorre principalmente em sienitos alcalinos e pegmatitos relacionados. Os melhores exemplares provêm de San Benito County, na Califórnia, onde ocorre associada a benitoíte azul e natrolite branca sobre serpentinite preta, criando combinações de espécime excepcionalmente belas. Outros depósitos existem no Canadá, Rússia e Gronelândia. Cristais de neptunite excepcionais com benitoíte são verdadeiras raridades geológicas.
