About Mimetite
Mimetite é um raro mineral de arsenato-cloreto de chumbo que forma cristais hexagonais ou em barril com cores que variam do amarelo ao laranja e castanho. O nome deriva do grego 'imitador' pela semelhança com a piromorfite. Cristais de mimetite de alta qualidade com tonalidade laranja-amarela são muito apreciados por colecionadores de minerais. As melhores amostras provêm do México, onde cristais em barril de cor amarela brilhante ocorrem na mina Los Lamentos. Apesar da sua toxicidade devido ao conteúdo de arsénio e chumbo, a mimetite é valorizada como espécime mineral de grande beleza.
