About Zincite
Zincite is a zinc manganese oxide mineral occurring naturally in deep orange-red to yellow hexagonal crystals with a subadamantine to resinous luster, found almost exclusively at the world-famous Franklin and Sterling Hill zinc mines in New Jersey, USA, alongside the spectacular fluorescent minerals willemite and calcite. Transparent deep red crystals from Franklin are extraordinarily rare and highly prized collector gems, while a surprising secondary source of large, well-formed synthetic zincite crystals emerged from the chimneys of the Silesian zinc smelter in Poland.
