About Variscite
Variscite is a hydrated aluminum phosphate mineral displaying soft mint to apple-green colors with waxy luster, often in nodular or vein-like masses with white and yellow matrix creating mottled patterns resembling jade or turquoise. It is found in Utah, Nevada, and Queensland, Australia, and has been fashioned into cabochons, beads, and carvings since at least the Neolithic period in Europe, when it was mined in Spain and Germany. Utah variscite, called Utahlite, is especially prized for its vivid green color.
