About Tinzenite
Tinzenite is a rare calcium manganese aluminum borosilicate axinite mineral that forms yellow to yellowish-orange to greenish crystals with a vitreous to resinous luster in manganese-rich metamorphic skarns. First described from the Tinzen Valley in Graubünden, Switzerland, it is named for its type locality and is also found in Japan and Italy. Its warm yellow-orange hues and crystal form make it an attractive, if rare, collector specimen.
