About Sussexite
Sussexite is a rare manganese boron oxyhydroxide mineral that forms pale pink to white fibrous or silky masses with a silky to waxy luster in oxidized manganese ore deposits. First described from Franklin, New Jersey, USA (in historical Sussex County, hence the name), it also occurs at other manganese skarn localities. Though too soft and fibrous for faceting, its silky fibrous habit and pastel pink color make it attractive in mineral specimens.
