About Starlite
Starlite is a trade name for heat-treated blue zircon, once the most fashionable blue gem of the early 20th century before the rise of blue topaz and aquamarine. The blue color is produced by carefully heating brownish or reddish zircon from Cambodia and Sri Lanka, which converts it to a brilliant electric blue with strong fire and double refraction. Its high brilliance and unique vintage associations make starlite a fascinating historical gem still appreciated by collectors.
