About Pyrite
Pyrite, nicknamed Fool's Gold, is a pale brass-yellow iron sulfide with a bright metallic luster and cubic crystal habit, creating strikingly geometric natural forms. Though long mistaken for gold by prospectors, pyrite has genuine value as a sulfur ore, in the production of sulfuric acid, and as a striking ornamental stone for carvings and jewelry. It occurs globally in sedimentary, metamorphic, and igneous rocks, and has been used decoratively since ancient times.
