About Nuummite
Nuummite is one of the oldest known rock types on Earth (approximately 3 billion years old), an amphibolite from the Nuuk region of Greenland composed of anthophyllite and gedrite amphiboles, displaying a remarkable iridescent schiller in golden, orange, red, blue, and green caused by light interference from oriented crystal lamellae. It is found exclusively in a small remote area of southwest Greenland and has been fashioned into cabochons and carvings since the 1980s. Nuummite's extraordinary antiquity and vivid iridescence make it a uniquely prized collector gem.
