About Moroxite
Moroxite is a historical varietal name for a blue-green variety of apatite, typically a fluorapatite or chlorapatite colored by traces of iron to display sea-green to turquoise-blue hues. The term is rarely used in modern gemology, with the material now classified simply as blue-green apatite. Fine blue-green apatite gems come from Madagascar, Brazil, Burma, and Canada, valued for their attractive color though their softness (Mohs 5) limits durability for everyday jewelry.
