About Maw Sit Sit
Maw-sit-sit is a rare vivid green ornamental rock composed primarily of albite feldspar, jadeite, and chromite, colored an intense emerald-green by chromium inclusions scattered through a black chromite matrix, producing a striking spotted or streaked green-and-black pattern. It is found exclusively in the Maw-Sit-Sit village area of Kachin State, Myanmar, the same jade-producing region as imperial jadeite. First described by gemologist Eduard Gübelin in the 1960s, maw-sit-sit has become a collector gem prized for its vivid and unusual coloring.
